PTO Leadership Team for 2024 - 2025
- Sameerah Toosi - President
- Hello, PS#2 community! I'm thrilled to serve as your PTO President this year. This is my fifth year as a PS#2 parent and my child is now a proud fourth grader. I've called West New York home for the past 10 years, though I grew up just across the river in New York City. Being part of PS#2's vibrant and diverse community is a true privilege. I'm passionate about building strong connections between students, families, teachers and school administration to create a supportive and thriving school environment. We have some exciting initiatives planned for this school year! One of our biggest projects is developing a state-of-the-art STEM Classroom within the outdoor courtyard at PS#2. This incredible effort brings together the West New York School District, our dedicated school administrators, the supportive superintendent and the curriculum director, our amazing faculty, and even STEM-focused students from Memorial High School. It's a collaborative endeavor that will offer our children dynamic, hands-on learning experiences and further enrich our community. I look forward to working together with all of you to make this year truly memorable for our students and families. Let's make it our best year yet!
- Maria Moranchel - Vice President
- Hi PS#2 Community, I am thrilled to introduce myself as a new member of the PTO Board serving as your Vice President and assisting with volunteering efforts. Although this is my first time serving on the PTO Board, I have been an active member of the PS#2 community contributing as a volunteer at numerous PTO sponsored events over the years. My daughter who is currently in sixth grade has had a wonderful elementary school experience here at PS#2. As someone born and raised in West New York, I take great pride in supporting our community and its families. I look forward to working together to support our diverse community and to continue making PS#2 a place where parents, teachers and administrative staff collaborate to provide the best education and environment for our children. Thank you for the opportunity to serve, I am excited about the journey ahead.

Meyken Barreto - Treasurer
- Hello! My name is Meyken Barreto, and this is my second year as a PS#2 parent of a first grader. I absolutely love the work the school does with the kids. I’m originally from Havana, Cuba, and I’ve lived in the U.S. for 11 years, with 6 and a half of those in West New York, which already feels like home. I am also a teacher at City College of New York. I’m very excited to be part of the PS#2 community and the larger neighborhood. I look forward to supporting activities and efforts in this diverse community and helping build strong relationships between students, families, teachers, and the school administration.

Wendy Lu - Secretary & Communications
- I'm excited to introduce myself as a new member of the PTO Board, serving as Secretary and assisting with Communications. While this is my first year on the PTO Board, I have had the privilege to be part of the PS# 2 community for the past 4 years, volunteering at various PTO-sponsored events. My daughter is currently in third grade and enjoys being part of such a vibrant and diverse school. Though I've called West New York home for the past 16 years, I originally grew up in the deep South. Today, I consider both NYC and WNY to be my home as well as my workplace in the fashion industry. I'm honored to be part of a community that values education, inclusivity, and collaboration. I look forward to working with all of you to continue making PS#2 a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.
